History Of Harry Potter

Me and my family have been watching the Harry Potter series of movies and I began to wonder where it all started. We have a tradition where we watch all of the movies before Christmas starts. On June 26, 1997, J.K Rowling published Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, first known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Then the book began to instantly gain popularity, so on November 16, 2001, Warner Bros. created the movie version. However, this wasn’t the only book J.K Rowling had made.

Earlier on July 2, 1998, J.K Rowling had made the second book in the series, named Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This started the cycle of books being made into movies, ending at July 15, 2011, as the second part of the Deathly Hallows movie was released. Little did everyone know that this wasn’t the end. J.K Rowling ended up writing yet another book about Harry Potter when he is now older and has children.

J.K Rowling says that in 1990 after “flat hunting”, she was riding on a train when she thought of the idea. She started writing that very evening, but curveballs like moving, marrying, and divorce postponed her release. She also became depressed and had thoughts about killing herself. No publishers seemed to like the story, it was rejected 12 times, but Bloomsbury saw potential in the book and published it, starting the Potter Era. J.K Rowling then found herself to be richer than the queen of England in a short time. In spite of her wealth, she wrote 3 books to help charities.

I liked that in the books she wrote that Harry and his friends are very close and mostly stick together. I also like how there is magic and Hogwarts houses, all known for one thing, aka loyalty, bravery, cleverness, and power. In all, I like the books and movies, though the books more than the movies.
