In NERDS: National Espionage, Rescue, and Defence Society, Jackson is a bully with braces who with his best friend, Brett Bealer, teases nerds and pranks them. However, Jackson doesn't know that 5 of these nerds, kids named Ruby, Julio, Duncan, Matilda, and Heathcliff are super spies. They each have their own weakness turned into an upgrade like:

• Ruby’s allergies were always her weakness until her upgrades made them detect danger and dishonesty. Codename: Pufferfish

• Julio used to get hyperactive and have huge tantrums after eating sugar. His upgrades got him a harness that harnessed sugar into energy so he could have super speed and super strength. Codename: Flinch

• Matilda suffered with asthma and always had an inhaler on hand in case problems arose. Her upgrade allowed her to breathe freely and fly. Her inhalers double as blowtorches and concussion blasts to knock out enemies. Codename: Wheezer

• Duncan was once forced to eat glue by bullies and the bullies got money for their act. His upgrades allow him to produce a sticky adhesive from his skin so he can walk on walls. Codename: Gluestick

• Heathcliff has buck teeth as big as a horses’. After his upgrade, these teeth could be used to hypnotize people. Codename: Choppers

Jackson ended up joining the team and got an upgrade. His upgrade was that his braces could transform into objects, like a cage, flyswatter, hand, and lots more! He has to use his powers when only a professional assassin stands by his side. Even worse, his friends and teammates have been kidnapped by mad scientist Dr. Jigsaw. Can Jackson save the world? I give this book 5 stars because of how Jackson thinks he isn’t good when he turns out to be the only chance the world has. I also give this book 5 stars because of when Heathcliff betrays them and all the surprises after that.
