Monsterland Book Review

Monsterland

By: James Crowley

Monsterland is about a boy named Charlie who finds out that monsters live in a valley next to his neighborhood! Charlie agrees to find a new island by crossing a sea on the condition of finding his lost brother, Billy. His companions on the journey will be Rohemetall and Franklin, both are monsters that will guide him through this strange and mysterious world. Will Charlie help the monsters with their mission and find Billy? Or will his mission fail while he struggles to find Billy?

My favorite part of the book Monsterland is when Charlie saves Zalika, a mummified princess. The marauder monsters in the book raid pyramids that belong to a mummy queen and take Zalika and Abigail, Charlie’s friends. The marauders have a leader named Tok that wants to destroy the mummies. If they have the mummy princess in their hands, it could start a war between the marauders and the mummies. While Franklin fights the marauders in the ransom group, Charlie frees Zalika from a sack on the back of one of the marauder’s horses therefore stopping an all-out war. This book was a very fun and well-written read with very well-developed characters. This is why I recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
