Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Ship of the Dead Book Review

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Ship of the Dead
By: Rick Riordan

There are 8 main characters in Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Ship of the Dead. The first character is called Halfborn, and he is easily excited by war. A girl character, named Mallory, absolutely can’t stand Halfborn. Next is the most important character called Magnus. He is important because he has to stop the world from getting destroyed by Loki, the trickster God who will set the ship of nails to kill the world in an apocalypse. Loki is Samariah’s and Alex’s father, but Samariah and Alex are Magnus’s friends, yet Loki is their enemy. Another friend is a soldier named T.J. or Thomas. One other friend is an elf named Hearthstone. The last friend of Magnus is a dwarf named Blitzen.

My favorite scene in the book is the scene where they talk with the Gods to decide the fate of Loki, the trickster God. It is funny because Loki is trapped inside a walnut after Magnus and his friends jail him and they decide to bind him, so he is more secure. They need him to be more secure because he already escaped once and he might again. Magnus also owes Aesir, the sea God, some Kvasir’s Mead because the God didn’t kill Magnus and his friends. The Gods say that they will give Aesir, the sea god, some mead for Magnus because he stopped Loki from starting Ragnarok, the destruction of the world. Magnus also gets to see his father who is a God named Frey. Frey is the God of healing and sunshine. He is one of the Gods deciding Loki’s fate. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the action in the book and all the challenges Magnus and his friends faced.
